Anna Carien Goosen

And then one morning the ground shifted

26 May 2017 till 14 June 2017

Anna-Carien Goosen is a versatile and accomplished artist who prefers working and experimenting in various media. Her exceptional drawing talents coupled with a fine sense of colour and perspective, are regularly put to use not only to depict a portrait or rather static image but also to convey a definite tale. Her visual narratives are imaginative and exciting and will certainly capture the fancies of viewers. "And then one morning the ground shifted"We try to prosper and create order, yet are often surprised by curveballs beyond our control. Life is fragile, and it is intriguing that we experience fragile things as beautiful.

The most beautiful sunrises I’ve seen, were on the two mornings driving to the hospital to watch my mother die; and then to watch my sister’s baby die. As a family we softly sang together and waited. Afterwards we drank good coffee…

There are so many experiences in life that can only be described as surreal.
