Women's day celebratory concert with the Trio Gloriosa

Camelia Onea (violin), Berthine van Schoor (cello) and Annalien Ball (piano) officialy formed their trio in 2014, after performing together for many years.  They have since performed in several concert series such as the Unisa Music Foundation, Tauromenium and Glenshiel concert series and at music festivals, eg the Aardklop Festival.  They have also performed for the Austrian Embassy in Pretoria. The South African composer Mokale Koapeng dedicated a trio to them.  Trio Gloriosa is named after the South African wild flower Gloriosa superba, also known as the Flame lily.

In celebration of Women’s Day, Trio Gloriosa will perform three works by female composers:

Clara Schumann: Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano
Cècile Chaminade:  Capriccio for Violin and Piano
Nadia Boulanger: Trois Pièces for Cello and Piano

Also on the programme is a beautiful piece by the Russian composer Anton Rubinstein, called Romance: The Night
