Menagerie
An exhibition of copperplate-etchings by Elsie de Beer Weich
24 May 2019 to 12 June 2019
Â
Pretoria artist Elsie de Beer Weich’s etchings were created with soft-ground and dry point etching techniques and printed on Hahnemühle paper. Each artwork holds a visual tension with an ambiguous aesthetic, presenting the viewer with a metaphor for association, identification, debate or future acquisitions.
Â
A menagerie is a collection of captive animals, frequently exotic, kept for display; or the place where such a collection is kept, a precursor to the modern zoological garden.Â
Â
Elsie de Beer Weich is a professional fine artist specialising in portrait painting. She was born and raised in Carolina, Mpumalanga. She had an upbringing filled with visual communication long before she understood its full meaning.
