Liekie Fouche

Between Worlds
25 April to 16 May 2026

Liekie Fouche is a Pretoria based artist who spent the formative years of her life on a farm in the North-Western province.  The landscapes of her childhood as well as the feelings of isolation have profoundly influenced her work.

After studying fine art (BA Visual Arts) at the University of Pretoria she was the runner-up in the Sasol New Signatures art competition in 1992 and since then she had 18 solo exhibitions and took part in over a hundred group exhibitions.  Her work can be seen in private collections all over the world.  Currently she works from a tranquil and inspirational smallholding in Zwavelpoort towards the east of Pretoria.

Between Worlds consists of South-African landscapes, cloudscapes and dreamscapes that focus on connections between heaven and earth navigating between realms seen and unseen.  The scenarios portrayed dwell on the boundaries between dream and reality, past and future as well as nature and imagination.  The works therefore not only please the senses, especially sight, but evoke different inner experiences in each and every viewer.
