Shades of Clay 2026
18 April to 9 May 2026The Association of Arts Pretoria proudly presents an exhibition curated by Hendrien Horn known as Shades of Clay. Rika Nortjé will open this on Saturday 18 April 2026 at 11:00.
The exhibition brings together more than 30 ceramic artists from all over Gauteng in a vibrant exploration of material, process and expression. It celebrates clay not merely as a medium, but as a language which is spoken by surfaces, texture, and form.
From functional vessels to sculptural forms, these diverse approaches reflect both individuality and shared practice. The artworks invite viewers to consider the many tinges of clay; not only the physical properties of a work, but also its symbolic weight and its ability to connect the artist with the audience.
Shades of Clay celebrates the diversity of voices and practices within ceramics, highlighting the enduring relevance and expressive potential of this artform.
