The Menkaure (Mycerinus) Statues
Prof Duffey will begin with a new series of lectures on the most significant sculptures of the Western World on Thursday 27 February 2025 at 12:00. The first lecture will be on the Menkaure Triads. These sculptures are some of the most magnificent creations of the Old Kingdom in Ancient Egypt and were made for the Valley Temple of pharaoh Khufu’s grandson Menkaure (Mycerinus in Greek), who was the sixth pharaoh of the 4th Dynasty and reigned from ca 2532 to 2503 B.C. Come and enjoy listening to the history and artistic significance of these sculptures in this first lecture for 2025.
